“All this he saw, for one moment breathless and intense, vivid on the morning sky; and still, as he looked, he lived; and still, as he lived, he wondered.”

— Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

A Life of Wonder

Inspired by nature and the wonder of God’s beauty all around us, I cannot help but attempt to capture those fleeting, everyday moments and create painted snapshots to carry on the memory of this magical, wonderful life that we are living.

Preserving a Legacy

As a child, I spent countless weekends and summer days with my grandparents, and my favorite moments were spent painting and drawing with my grandmother, artist Aline Daigle David. A true steel magnolia in every sense, Momaline was equal parts sugar and spice. A savvy business woman with a flair for entertaining, she delighted in a beautiful life well loved. Her watercolor and pastel images of majestic Louisiana swamps and bayous captured the mystic magic of these sacred spaces. We spent hours on end together on her back patio where she taught me about color and composition, but more than anything, she taught me to appreciate the importance of faith and family and the exquisite gift of nature.

Today, my days are not as simple as they were on Momaline’s patio or in the classroom at LSU, but they are no less entertaining. Living in South Louisiana, married to my best friend with three children and a career as a full-time fundraising and marketing executive, life is busy and full- like a Dickens novel, it is the best of times and the worst of times, and isn’t that the joy of it all? The legacy of faith and family is carrying forward to the next generation, and now my children spend countless days with their aunts and uncles, a menagerie of best friend cousins, and my parents, their beloved grandparents, establishing roots and making memories. It is never lost on me how fortunate we are to have each other.

For several years, painting and creating were only on the wish list as the ever growing to-do list of diapers and spreadsheets mounted. Now that the dust has settled a bit, returning to art and to my roots is fulfilling my childhood dreams and offers a little oasis in the chaos of this beautiful, busy life.
